Datum - SQLite App Reviews
DATUM has worked very well for me. The only thing I wish is there were more options for CSV or OTHER Export where it would be nice for example to be able to specifiy exporting every field as text i.e. quotes around the fields. But I was able to work around these limitations but it would be much better if it had more flexibility on export. Otherwise the SQL capabilities within the software are AWESOME and I could do all these things I needed to do to manipulate data since the files I was working on were too big for Excel exceeding the 1 MM record limit of Excel but were not problem at all for Datum. Nice job guys. Keep up the good work and improve the flexibility of Export if you would.
Really good tool in my opinion. I’m super happy with it. I needed something because I wanted to get started with Rails and needed a GUI to see what I’m doing in the database. Does the job perfectly for me. I can see everything I do, edit, create new tables or columns. Also it gets frequent updates and the support is awesome. Had a little problem and within hours I had a reply telling me my problem will be fixed in the version coming within a few days. I don’t know what to add to it. But also I’m a starter so that’s why 5 Stars.
Version 4.4 does not work
i updated to version 4.4 on osx 10.9.2, but the app does not work anymore … send report to apple. please fix problem, thx.
Can’t open my databases with version 6.0
Crashes all the time I try to attach my databases.
At the moment I run a Project to import Tables from Windows-Databases. Create DB and Tables in SQLite Pro = easy / works perfect Import in .xls / .csv Format= easy / works perfect Usage of own SQL-Commands= works perfect Inline Editing= easy / works perfect Export of full Tables or Result-Sets= works perfect The Program has a clear structure so that the handling is very easy. I don’t need the missing „Help“-Function. Volker (User from Germany)
Almost Impossible to use… you need an advanced knowledgoe of SQL to do the simplest things like convert a Unix timestamps to real dates, or view BLOBs as anything other than Binary octets… Will not be recommending this app to anyone until it gets some documentation or a help file!
Previous versions was good, but since some latest update(s) it’s just not workable on OS X 10.9.5 : Parts of application windows are not updated (repainted) well - I see only drawing artifacts and cannot use it at all.
Great little SQLite editor, does exactly what you need it to do. Is easy to use, fast, light, and well worth the price. Yes, there are a few more robust platforms out there but imho you’ll never touch 80% of the functionality they offer and who needs the bloat?
Almost works… Trying to execute my own rew sql to create a table, and throws unhelpful errors. Turns out, the raw sql input does not accept new lines when creating a table. Would really appreciate help validating my own sqlite statements with this tool.
This app is little more than a browser and querying tool. You can’t export results, and there is little customization you can do. I wish I had just stuck with SQL Studio - a free tool that I am once again using.
Im in the learning stages of how to work with sqlite but out of the 5 or 6 other programs I’ve tried this is by far the best. Carl has given me some pointers which have helped immensely. I cant say enough good things about this program, money well spent as far a Im concerened.
This is a great starting point for managing SQLite database files. It’s got a decent feature set and is a much better value than something like Navicat. One feature that would be great is the ability to connect to databases on remote servers. I haven’t been able to figure out how to open a database on my Debian server. Datum doesn’t see anything that isn’t mounted locally. That said, I’m pleased with the purchase.
I depend on a good solid SQLite editor. YAY!!!! The best part of the update is the smallest. The window remembers its last open size and position on screen when reopening. Made the suggestion to tech support a while back and they implemented it. Thanks for listening to your users!!!!
Datum lets me open, examine, and interact with any SQLite database on my computer. Its stable, easy to use, has a nice clean interface, and doesnt hog resources. And all that for a fraction the price I would have expected. Nice!
I downloaded this hoping to be able to filter a large CSV file. It crashed trying to import it. I made a much smaller CSV file (9 rows by 5 columns) to see what the options were once it was succesfully import, it crashed on that file too. Very poor product. I wouldn’t recommend.
Although it loads a large database fast, it constantly crashes when executing SQL queries. I had previously used the free version (6.4), which was much more stable. I’m very disappointed in the paid version as it is completely unusable on 2 different machines.
I have zero SQL database experience - I was just thrown in the deep end to figure it all out. I found this app very useful and easy to use. Well worth the expenditure.
Lets see, a $10 application with literally no help and a cryptic interface. Once you create a table, you cant add more columns even though thats allowed by SQLite. This was a waste of money and time. I have no idea what the 5-sart reviewers were thinking.
